Introducing a special edition inspired by the Year of the Snake in 2025, featuring exquisite embroidery that captures the essence of vintage designs. This luxurious creation consolidates two rare vintage pieces into a remarkable "double front" format, showcasing their captivating A-side designs.
The front depicts a pit viper in search of prey, with a vibrant illustration from the early 1950s. The dynamic movement of the snake is expressed through intricate embroidery techniques, and the distinctive coin pattern, achieved by layering horizontal stitches, highlights the striking presence of the viper. The bamboo and leaves are rendered using multiple colored threads, creating a gradient from white to green that evokes the depth of a nighttime bamboo grove. The black and gold color scheme of the body and ribbing is complemented by a striking red and white piping.
The reversible side features an eagle with a white snake in its beak, wings spread wide. Meticulously crafted with a gradient of soft colors like white, gold, and pink, the subtle shading of the eagle's feathers is beautifully detailed. Black accents are added to the eagle's head, the snake's scales, and the branch it's perched on, enhancing the overall embroidery. Unlike typical sukajan jackets that match body and sleeve line colors, this piece displays a burgundy body with green under-sleeves and silver sleeve seams. Additionally, the reversible zipper features a manual curve mimicking those produced by fastening machines over 50 years ago. Utilizing the label of the former Koshō Trading Company, the finished piece artfully evokes the heyday of vintage sukajan jackets.
