A grand-scale work from the early 1950s where an eagle and dragon face off across Mount Fuji. The vibrant blue thread of Mount Fuji stands out on the matte black acetate fabric, which has been treated for an aged look. The absence of the word JAPAN allows for a wide use of the jacket's back, and the intricate embroidery of multiple motifs of the eagle and dragon is characteristic of this design.
The reversible side features a blue body adorned with a colorful dragon pattern. The composition combining Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms at the lower back aligns with the motif on the chest, giving a sense of unity to the overall embroidery, with the red thread of the cherry blossoms serving as a striking accent against the faded blue fabric.
