The tropical combat uniform commonly known as "jungle fatigue," adopted and supplied during the Vietnam War, had its trousers' exposed buttons redesigned into concealed buttons from the second model onwards, similar to the jacket. Most battles in Vietnam took place in the jungle, and exposed buttons would get caught on branches or equipment, prompting the second model to modify it with concealed buttons that do not protrude out from the flap. Additionally, the strap used to secure the contents of the cargo pocket was abolished, and the waist adjustment tab was changed from a button style to a hardware style, with materials also changed to ripstop fabric. The first model was adopted for a very short period, resulting in a significantly low remaining number, making it a rare item. A full-length pant called "Lot No. BR42500" with the same fabric and common details is also available.
