This piece commemorates the anniversary of the 100th Infantry Battalion, known for its significant impact on establishing the status of Japanese Americans during WWII. Made in 1952 to celebrate the unit's 10th anniversary, it humorously depicts their life in the battlefield along with the “Red Bull” symbol of the 34th Infantry Division and the nickname “One Puka Puka” (Hawaiian for a hole or zero). The original design is by Robert Takashige from the brand “Holo Holo,” a pure local brand founded in 1946, with designs created by Mrs. Takashige and primarily sold at military bases and local wholesalers.

For this reissue, the design is overseen by the “100th Infantry Battalion Clubhouse” to honor their achievements in a contemporary context. The item features a dual-label design with an official label from the 100th Battalion.
