The utility uniform made from herringbone twill, adopted by the U.S. Army during World War II, continued to be worn even after the outbreak of the Korean War. However, in the harsh winter conditions of Korea, more insulated combat clothing was needed, leading to the development and adoption of field jackets like the M-51 and M-51 parka. In line with this, the OG-107 utility uniform emerged. Made of heavy satin fabric, it features flap pockets on both chests, with a pen holder located in the left pocket. The collarless design is typically worn unbuttoned at the first button for a casual look. The early version featured 'shirt sleeves' with cuffs, while subsequent models switched to 'tube sleeves' without cuffs, reflecting a shift toward mass production.
This model is a recreation of the patched version of the utility shirt worn by John Lennon during his appearance on the TV program 'The Dick Cavett Show.' The shirt that John chose at the surplus shop was one that an actual soldier wore, identified by the name 'REINHARDT.' In the mid-1960s, he served in the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division stationed in Korea and participated in reconnaissance missions in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) near the 38th parallel with the 'Imijin Scouts' patch. John's wearing of the military shirt symbolized his anti-war stance and became a representation of his message of love and peace.
