This extremely rare piece depicts a scarecrow watching over a field of tall rice and a noise-making device to scare away birds. Among many vintage aloha shirts, this design stands out for its large portrayal of rural life and scarescrows, evoking the image of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii wearing it while reminiscing about their homeland. This shirt is crafted by the well-established brand SURFRIDERS SPORTSWEAR, which has been selling shirts since before the war on Waikiki's Kalakaua Avenue.
