This piece is by Cone Mills, a major fabric manufacturer based on the U.S. East Coast, known for supplying aloha shirt fabric to many brands in the mainland U.S. This work was created under the brand name “Made in California” that the company marketed. The main motif features a comical dragon, combined with geometric elements, showcasing a design that was avant-garde even for the 1950s executed through discharge printing.
