Lot.708 Denim Coverall Jacket C.1940's

Since coveralls are jackets for blue-collar workers, they often have inner pockets and complex details such as pen holders in the chest pocket.
The reconstructed 1940s coverall jacket features a significantly simplified design, suggesting it was from the resource-scarce period around World War II. The linear silhouette is preserved, and the use of a light gray and navy color stitch is faithfully implemented, with meticulous attention to the stitch work to replicate the coarse sewing of the time. It is made from U.S.-sourced organic cotton and woven with a 3/1 left-hand twill, lightweight denim on an old-fashioned power loom in Okayama. The denim fabric, slowly woven on a shuttle loom that operates at only 1/10 to 1/20 the speed of modern looms, retains the inherent texture of the cotton threads, resulting in a desirable irregularity. The warp yarn is dyed with indigo mixed with sulfur dyes, characterized by a weathered green cast. It is dyed to a white core with rope dyeing. The weft yarn uses custom-made nep yarn dyed a yellowed natural color that evokes the passage of time. By combining these two types of yarn, we arrive at Taiga Takahashi's unique, rich and deep indigo blue.
The finish features a shrink-resistant treatment called sanforized.
It uses "white ear" selvage denim fabric, with white ear utilized in various places such as the front placket and cuff lining. This jacket has a patch pocket on only one side, and the construction is simple with just a single stitch to hold the pleats on the front. The silhouette is crafted into a flat shape with straight sleeves and no shoulder slope. All custom-embossed buttons and the back are made from iron and unplated on the surface, allowing them to rust over time. All details are constructed exactly as they were in the 1920s. The signature leather patch uses leather dyed with mud from Amami Oshima.
After washing, a shrinkage of 2-3% will occur.
The iron materials used in accessories such as tack buttons, rivets, and buckles faithfully recreate the details of a bygone era, and since they have not been treated with rust prevention, there is a risk of the accessories rusting or causing danger (sharp pin points) during use. We cannot take any responsibility for accidents or damages that occur as a result of using the product, so please check and understand the product thoroughly before use.
