LOT.219 LOGGER PANTS

Logger pants that were worn by Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) forestry workers from around 1934. Like the Lot. 325 Logger Jacket, these pants are made from durable cotton canvas. This fabric was reportedly used by the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, which manufactured military clothing, for CCC tents and sleeping bags, and it appears that these pants were also created using the same fabric during that period.
The design features a double knee construction that extends below the knee. The original pants were likely treated with oil for waterproofing, emphasizing their design as tools rather than just clothing. All buttons are made of metal, showcasing a commitment to durability. The Lot. 219 Logger Pants aim to replicate the color of garments worn by forestry workers of the time, using a garment dyeing process. In a special technique, persimmon tannin, traditionally used to enhance fabric durability, is used for garment dyeing, creating swirling patterns reminiscent of tree rings, captured one by one from the water’s surface. This marbling technique originates from Heian-era leisure activities and was originally a method for transferring ink from the water's surface to materials like washi paper. By carefully dripping ink into the center of a circle over time, irregular concentric circles resembling tree rings are formed in the water's surface. Each pair of pants is floated on this surface to capture the pattern. Due to subtle movements in the wind, the same pattern will never appear again. By entrusting the final touch to nature, the design incorporates the time it takes to form the beautiful and circular shapes of nature that cannot be controlled by human hands.
Special custom-engraved buttons and back parts are made from iron material, treated with a smoky patina finish to express the passage of time.
