Mid 1950s / Hopsack Rayon / Discharge Print
In the 1950s, Star of Hollywood released highly artistic printed shirts. Within this brand, there are five masterpieces that are recognized worldwide, and this Shrunken Head pattern was also released by the brand SIR GUY. While the basic design is the same for both, the size and spacing of the motifs, the type of fabric, and the printing method differ, with the Star of Hollywood version being the older original. When compared to the later SIR GUY version, the Star of Hollywood version has slightly smaller patterns and closer motif spacing. The printing is also discharge printing rather than overprinting. The Star of Hollywood Shrunken Head is extremely rare and has not been featured in any publications, making it a mythical piece among collectors. However, this season, a reproduction based on vintage designs of the Star of Hollywood Shrunken Head is finally being released.
The shirt comes in two styles, one being a pullover shirt type that is true to the original, and the other an open shirt type with a reworked collar. In addition to the light purple that exists in vintage, bright yellow and red color combinations are also available.
