This collaboration item between London-based J.L-A.L and Goldwin features a unique jacket made with a blend of Brewed Protein fiber material and silk fur, combined with a base of plant-derived biomass plastic called PlaX. The jacket uses a boa fleece material designed with J.L-A.L's innovative panel structure, optimized through a pattern-making technique called SYN-GRID. SYN-GRID is a system developed by the design laboratory Synflux that streamlines the 3D pattern data of garments using algorithms, significantly reducing fabric waste during the manufacturing process by approximately 50%. The silhouette is a regular fit and includes pockets on both sides. Brewed Protein fiber is a next-generation material created using biotechnological methods from Spiber, based on plant-derived raw materials. Its protein-based fibers feature a smooth surface and a delicate, flexible texture. The eco-friendly attributes and highly efficient production processing of Brewed Protein fiber are expected to significantly lessen the environmental impact compared to traditional materials. PlaX is a fiber that improves quality, functionality, and dyeability by adding a proprietary modifier developed by Bioworks to plant-based polylactic acid, which does not use petroleum. There is no acceptance of returns or exchanges due to customer convenience. Brewed Protein is an artificial protein material developed by the biotech venture Spiber located in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. This material, produced through a fermentation process using plant-derived sugars as raw materials, is expected to be a next-generation material that can provide solutions to replace conventional animal-derived and synthetic materials. Production of Brewed Protein polymer has begun at a mass production plant in Thailand, and efforts are underway to expand production, including Brewed Protein fibers.
