Crafted from an 8-ounce indigo stripe sampled from narrow-width vintage fabrics, this item is produced on a shuttle loom. At first glance, it appears to be a simple indigo and natural stripe, but small white spaces can be seen within the indigo base. These areas feature a two-tone dyed kasuri thread created using the 'kuri' technique. Achieving this fine pitch dyeing is quite challenging in modern times, and special techniques were used across several dyeing studios to successfully reproduce the short-pitch kasuri thread.
The design is based on dungarees (work pants) that were prevalent from the late 1940s to the 1950s, featuring a double knee construction at the knee part for added durability.
