This unique piece captures the essence of good fortune with the iconic Mt. Fuji and the eggplant, a symbol of various wishes coming true, reflecting the rare Oriental design of the Duke Kahanamoku brand. While it is common for traditional Japanese crepe material to feature overprints, this Duke brand shirt with an Oriental design discharged into Fujiette fabric is exceptionally rare.
DUKE KAHANAMOKU SPECIAL EDITION
Duke Kahanamoku, a legendary waterman and hero of Hawaii, was a gold medalist in competitive swimming and established the sport of surfing. Starting his namesake brand in the 1930s, he became a cultural ambassador for Hawaii. This special edition shirt by Sun Surf perfectly reproduces the charm of rare vintage aloha shirts from the existing Duke brand, inheriting his exquisite sensibility.
