The Panama hat is made from the split fibers of toquilla straw sourced from Ecuador. Only the soft inner part is used, and it is meticulously hand-woven by skilled artisans. The crafting techniques have been globally recognized, being designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2012. The hat body used in this item is specially ordered from THE FAT HATTER and crafted with care in Ecuador. Available in two colors: Black and Sugar Brown. The accent ribbon on the hat is a detachable tiered ribbon made from SUNSURF's rayon fabric, matching each color scheme. It features a wider brim and a teardrop crown top, showcasing a style that is more reflective of the original specifications from that era.

However, influenced by the ruling countries such as England, France, and America, photographs from that time show gentlemen dressed in suits and wearing hats. A luxurious passenger ship, Matson Line, sailing from San Francisco to Hawaii, featured in its brochure, described men’s local attire as 'Panama hat with an Aloha shirt,' making the hat a staple item cherished even by royalty.
For this collaboration, SUNSURF commissioned the 'Mr.FATMAN' group, led by THE FAT HATTER. This brand focuses on creating products that go beyond ready-made items, rooted in the culture of the golden age of hats during the 1950s. This collaboration, between experts in that decade, allowed for the expression of hats that pair perfectly with Aloha shirts. Attention to detail is evident not only in the selection of materials and molding techniques but also in the stitching of the leather sweatband, known as 'I stitch,' reflecting the dedication of both brands down to the finest details.
