This tank top was adopted by the U.S. Army in the early 1940s. Its official name is 'Undershirts, Cotton Summer-Sleeveless,' and instead of a label, the name and size are printed on the inner neck. The fabric features twisted yarn to create a unique texture, and a special rib knit machine is used to achieve a dry, non-sticky feel. The color of the thread used to sew the neck and side ribbing adds to the overall vintage appearance.
