This artwork is inspired by the Gion Matsuri, a festival in Kyoto that has been celebrated for over a thousand years. The delicate depiction showcases floats called Yamaboko and portable shrines known as Mikoshi, parading through the streets, using 16 colors in its prints. The figure wearing a Happi with 'Waka' printed on the back represents the Shiwaka, the bearers of the Mikoshi. A notable depiction of the distinctive Higashigoma Mikoshi they carry is impressively detailed, reflecting the spirit of the dye artisans active in Kyoto at that time.

Produced by Musashiya, a brand intertwined with the origins of Aloha shirts, this design frequently ranks high in requests for reissues. In 1885, Nagataro Miyamoto, the first contracted immigrant to Hawaii, established an order-made shirt store called Musashiya in Honolulu. After Nagataro's passing, his son Koichiro took over the store, renaming it Musashiya Shoten. In 1934, Koichiro sold the store but later established Musashiya The Shirt Maker. This reissue faithfully reproduces the name label featuring Koichiro's portrait, the matched pockets on both sides, and the tailored construction characteristic of that era.
