This revived piece is from the "Hale Aloha" brand by K. Isojima, crafted in the late 1940s, using fabric printed in a Japanese dye factory and sewn in Hawaii. It is based on a newly acquired unpublished vintage aloha shirt and represents the first actual revival by Sun Surf.

The motif of the design is drawn from one of Japan's traditional arts, featuring a Noh play called "Takasago". It showcases an elderly couple holding a kumade (a rake for gathering good fortune) and a broom as well as symbols of good luck such as pine, bamboo, and plum, along with cranes and the rising sun, making it a beautifully auspicious design.

During the time, Japanese immigrants in Hawaii were supported by designs that reminded them of their homeland. Thus, many vintage aloha shirts feature Oriental designs (Japanese patterns), with works inspired by traditional Japanese culture still being discovered.
