This item, reissued in response to numerous requests, is inspired by the 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning," formed in Hawaii in October 1941. Deployed during the Korean War in 1950, this division played a prominent role and created this memorial piece upon their return to Hawaii from Korea in 1953. The design humorously depicts scenes of training at the Schofield Barracks in Oahu and their experiences on the battlefield. Notably, it features General MacArthur's rank insignia along with the phrase OLD SOLDIERS NEVER DIE, which was part of his retirement speech in 1951.

The division was tasked with the defense of Oahu and the Hawaiian Islands immediately following its formation in 1941, participating in battles in the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. It also served in recent conflicts, including the Iraq War and the Afghanistan conflict, leaving behind a legacy of significant achievements within the US Army. The 25th Infantry Division is prominently featured in Oliver Stone's 1986 film, Platoon.
