Brewed Protein is an artificial protein material developed by the bio-venture Spiber based in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. Produced from plant-derived sugars through a microbial fermentation process, this material is expected to provide a next-generation solution that can replace conventional animal-derived and synthetic materials. Production of Brewed Protein polymers has begun at a mass production plant in Thailand, and efforts are underway to expand production, including Brewed Protein fibers.
