If the Antarctica Versa Loft is considered mid-layer, then this feels like both outer and mid-layer. Each has its own strengths, but I purchased it mainly because of the return of Polartec.

Personally, I wished they had kept the square logo on the sleeves from before.
Everything else—color, design, warmth—is satisfying.

I was considering the just-size S, but since the collar height and neck area have quite tight fit, I chose M. I can feel the design intent to minimize cold air and wind intrusion. The torso fit is straight, so there’s no stress even with thick layers underneath. The gray, depending on the location, can look like deep black, and I hesitated between that and the pitch black black with changing expressions.

The Versa Loft I bought over ten years ago was a fitted type, but the product released this year is roomy enough to wear as an outer layer, which makes me happy.
