Keys, coins, and stick-type gels or granules fit inside. Jelly drinks might fit depending on the item. My smartphone didn't fit, but it probably depends on the cover and model. I purchased it to hold small items while running. Personally, I'm satisfied because I usually don't carry much when I run.
