This vest follows the design of the Nuptse Jacket, a heritage model representing THE NORTH FACE from the 1990s, originally developed for expeditions in 1992. It has been updated to feature a well-balanced size that suits current trends. The vest uses environmentally friendly recycled down for part of the insulation. The outer fabric is made of durable 40 denier ripstop nylon with water-repellent treatment, and the shoulder switch is made from thicker nylon material. This versatile piece can be widely used from outdoor activities to urban settings.

Shoulder width is important
I tried on men's size M and L, and purchased this XL size. The body width is a bit tight, but the shoulder width is just right.

It can be chosen for seasonal wear
My first down vest. It seems like it will be useful in early autumn to early winter and also in spring. On windless days, it's comfortable just wearing this over an inner layer and sweatpants. On days when the cold wind blows, my shoulders get a bit chilly. I thought it might work indoors on cold days, but it was too bulky for inside the house.

CLEANDOWN uses high-quality down processed through cleaning by KAWADA FEATHER, a down feather manufacturer based in Meiwa Town, Mie Prefecture. The dry climate allows the down feathers to open easily, and using the soft water in the area thoroughly removes dirt and dust without damaging the down, resulting in clean down. The cleaned down has superior loft compared to the pre-cleaned ones, enhancing its insulation properties. The clean down wraps the body more warmly.

GREEN DOWN RECYCLE PROJECT
The GREEN DOWN RECYCLE PROJECT is a project that collects and refines down (feathers), a limited resource, and utilizes it as a raw material for new products including down wear under the name 'GREENDOWN'. It reduces carbon dioxide emitted during down incineration (approximately 1.8 kg of carbon dioxide is emitted for every 1 kg of down) and the carbon dioxide generated when shipping from the country of origin to Japan.
