T.T's coverall jacket is a fruit of our fascination for a vintage jacket added to Takahashi's collection after over a century. 1920s was the time when mass production and consumption began in the US. In the wave of massive transformation in industries triggered by the American capitalism, manufacturing departed from the tradition of craftsmanship characterized by meticulous attention to each work and shifted to a system enabling mass production requiring no skills. Workwear worn by laborers, the supporter of economy at the bottom of the hierarchy, are eloquent witnesses of the era. All design elements, from simplified linear sewing and flat patterns to resilient fabric and practical pocket shapes, are specifically purposed for durability. What we call"design" today is virtually nonexistent. This jacket, in particular, is more like a tool than a garment. While inheriting the original specifications, we took the fabric texture into account and reconstructed it with added shoulder slopes to improve the underarm fit. The fabric is our original twisting-mottled whipcord, resulting from our study of vintage swatches from the 1940s. The reverse side is lightly brushed."Whipcord" came from the thick and prominent twill pattern, looking like a horsewhip.

100% COTTON

Model: 186cm size40

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0743/5829/2669/files/T.T__30_20170857-3cb9-4d40-92bb-277d4c7ffb81.jpg?v=1771002939
lot-321-sports-jacket
LOT.321 SPORTS JACKET

This sports jacket in the rider's style, inspired by 1950s motorcycle culture, features the tailored shoulder construction popular in the era and the round sleeves designed for ease of movement.
To improve the fit, waist ribbing is re-knitted while pursuing softness in the circular knitting ribbed sleeves. Taiga Takahashi's coverall jackets were created with the fascination of coverall jackets that came to Taiga's possession after more than 100 years. The era of mass production and mass consumption began in the United States in the 1920s. The American-style capitalist society changed various types of craftsmanship. The tradition of craftsmen carefully making one item at a time gave way to a system of manufacturing that made mass production possible without hand skills. The workwear worn by the hard-working people who support the economy illustrates this historical background. Straightforward sewing and flat patterns simplified the production process. The durability of fabrics and the shape of pockets are all designed to withstand heavy labor. Elements of today's design are completely absent. This jacket in particular is more like a tool than a garment. The jacket uses original buttons that reproduce the stamped iron buttons used on coveralls in the 1910s. The deliberately uncoated surface will naturally age and rust over time to add depth in the design. The fabric is our brand original for this item, this time too. We researched the colored stripe fabric used in trousers in the 1960s. Appearing to be a simple stripe at a glance, the analysis revealed that five different colored threads were used. This season, we also produces faded bleached colors based on sweatshirts found in California that have lost their color due to deterioration over time.

100%COTTON

There are a variety of knits worn by hard labor workers that were common in the 1930s and 1940s in the United States.
All of them are hard and prickly to the point of being unthinkable today, and most of the textures are unthinkable against the skin. In particular, he liked “Foremost” which was made by J.C. Penny. They started producing denims in the 1920s by imitating well-known denim brands, gradually developed their own unique styles. Takahashi collected these denims and imagined the brands attempts to differentiate themselves from well-known denim brands through trial and error in the details of their designs. The original denim of T.T was created by taking over their creative spirit.
Using 100% American organic cotton, the 3/1 left twill, light oz denim was woven on an old-type power loom in Okayama, also called a shuttle loom, which can only weave twenty times slower than a modern loom.
The slow-woven denim keeps the natural unevenness of cotton yarn, creating a desirable irregularity in the texture. The warp yarn, dyed with indigo mixed with sulfur dye, carries a definitive green-cast, weathered look. The rope dyeing technique is applied to leave the white core. The weft is custom-made nep yarn dyed in slightly yellowed natural color to express the passage of time. By using these two yarns, Takahashi perfected his unique indigo blue which is deep and rich. The fabric is finished with sanforized process to prevent shrinkage.
The fabric is selvedge denim with a white edge, which is featured in various parts like the front facing and reverse side of the cuffs. This simple jacket has a patch pocket on one side only, and the pleats on the front are folded with single stitches only. The flat silhouette is characterized by horizontally attached sleeves and flat shoulder lines. The buttons and backside parts marked with original engravings are all made of iron, which is uncoated to produce aged beauty over time. Like Lot.601 Tee Shirt, it is directly cut and has a flat shape. The machine can knit only one meter per hour, which is very inefficient, but the slow process creates a unique texture with a good degree of unevenness, as if air is knitted in with the fabric.
